Disable Video-on-demand

I recently noticed the new video-on-demand feature which will be of no use to me. I see instructions for disabling online sources which should include video-on-demand but that option is unavailable. What am i missing?

Use app.plex.tv

Thanks, that worked. So not a part of the standard web interface?

The local web app is simply too old. Once a newer software version of the web app gets bundled with newer Plex server versions, it will gain support for the new media source.

Look. I guess I can understand why some versions of your app may not be able to play this content (licensing reasons, etc), but why oh why are you unable to PUT A CHECKBOX IN THE SETTINGS? I fussed for WAY too long with the Plex app for Windows last night, only to find out I had to use the web app to CHECK A DAMN BOX. This is a PISS POOR implementation and you should feel bad. I’d threaten to cancel my account, but I’m in it for my “lifetime” I guess. For shame.

The web App/client is mainly used for admin by most users. It’s the server window if you like.

So I totally disagree with you thought process.

What is your source for the statement that the web app is “mainly used for admin by most users?” I didn’t know that Plex Pass holders had access to internal Plex web statistics. Please send me the link, I love statistics too.

But for the time being, let’s assume you’re right. The web app is used by most users. So what?

To think that the BRAND NEW app (Aug 15, 2019) for the OS that “most users” use (if I can quote BS stats too), that was launched as “supercharged with all the same server and library management capabilities of our web app)” and has “support for all modern features” wouldn’t actually have those capabilities or features?

And you’re saying that none of this matters because “most users” don’t use it?

Plex has dropped the ball on server admin once they let the localhost interface (the REAL admin site) drop out of sync with the app.plex.tv version. With the launch of a brand new “all-in-one” app for MacOS and Windows, that allows you to watch AND ADMIN Plex, I don’t think it’s naive to think that this app could, and should, support “all modern features,” like advertised.

I don’t really care if you agree with any of this or not. This roll-out is pissing off a lot of die hard OG Plex admins that just want to share media with friends and family. Any platform that you can play Plex on can play ad supported media through other apps or channels. We didn’t need our sacred cow selling out to try to make a buck off OUR users. The fact that the latest client software they launched FOUR MONTHS AGO doesn’t support this feature, or more to my original point doesn’t support the f*ing option to disable it via its server settings, is just another middle finger to its user base.

This discussion is becoming pointless.
The Plex for Windows/Mac app is not listed as being compatible with the new AVOD feature, yet.

Which means it also doesn’t show the necessary drop-down selector to disable it, yet.
It will get an update, which adds this functionality soon.
Until then, use the hosted web app app.plex.tv
