for playback on Plex Media Player. 2.58.0.1076
Plex Media Player is rather outdated and from what I understand no longer actively developed. Version 2.58 was released approx. 2 years ago. You might instead want to look into the newer Plex HTPC app.
I have installed the latest version of the HTPC app.
Still no luck with discover, now it says linking content not available in app
What’s the exact wording of the error message you get and where exactly are you seeing it?
Maybe you can share a screenshot?
Just for reference… this is what it’s suppose to look like
I get that screen and if I play a trailor it works inside plex just like any of my content. If I choose a show or film to watch however I get screen that lets you “Watch from these locations” but when I choose the location Netflix prime etc I get the following message

Linking to content within other apps is unavailable, you will unfortunately have to go direct to the correct app to play the content, below is a liost of where you can watch this content.
If I try to use PMP or play it from the server or PC running firefox to the HTPC it gives the orgininal error
This should be the expected behavior based on the apps you’re using.
- Plex Web should open the URL of the item on the streaming provider‘s homepage
- on a mobile platform (Plex for Android mobile, iOS), Plex will ask the OS to open the link to the item in the streaming provider app (assuming this app is installed on that mobile); the same applies to some streaming boxes with support for installing apps that allow such „deep links“
- Streaming boxes that don’t allow apps or deep linking will show the mentioned information instead of opening the video page
- Plex HTPC will show the same information page but won’t open the streaming provider URL or app (browsing such videos using a browser on a HTPC connected to a big-Screen tv might not be desirable; App handling on such platforms isn’t regulated through a central entity-> e.g. App Store)
- Plex Media Player doesn’t support Discover at all

Bit disappointed I’ve been looking for a unified front end since plex took the addons away many years ago now and was hoping discover was it.
