How can I actually disable this latest garbage, social feature?
I couldn’t see anything about it on the web client - I expected it to be already disabled at the account level since I have all the other social/discover/online media sources stuff disabled. Of course that was wishful thinking.
I opened Plex on my phone (android) and noticed that the bottom navigation now included ‘discover’ where it had previously only showed libraries and home. I navigated to settings>experience (since I read this is apparently where to disable ‘discussions’), I found the setting “discussions on details page” and toggled it off. Toggling this off did remove the ‘discover’ menu from the bottom navigation, so that’s good at least - I guess they are linked in some way?
But ‘discussions’ isn’t actually disabled as far as I can tell. It’s ‘hidden’ but if I tap the … more menu on a details page, there is an option to “start a discussion”. So, how do I actually disable it entirely, ideally at the account level?

First of all, why would you release something that you clearly haven’t finished building? Surely ‘threaded replies’ is a pretty fundamental feature of a discussion board, why would you hold back something like that from initial release? I guess it’s all just in keeping with plex’s tendency to release stuff half-baked… anyway that’s not the bit I really care about since I won’t be using it.
I want to know about this planned @ mention feature:
Will it only be possible to @ a user who has already posted in the discussion/thread where the @ is being posted? Or can anyone be pinged this way even if they haven’t participated in that discussion? which leads to my next question;
(if answer to first question is no)Will people be able to @ anyone, or only users they are ‘friends’ with and/or whom have public profiles?
What I’m getting at is, since the feature can’t actually be disabled, does that mean that in theory, despite my profile being private, and not having any plex ‘friends’, and having discussions hidden - will it end up being possible that some troll could @ me?
