Display recordings by season, episode

I have a show that airs several seasons in syndication. When displayed in Plex, only the episode number is displayed - Episode 23, Episode 9, etc… I can’t seem to find a way to browse these by season, or at least display Season 2, Episode 23, for example, when viewing the list of recordings.

Edit the Show and check the Advanced/Seasons setting:

My Recordings library was already set to show seasons. Unfortunately it does not. Bug?

As I mentioned in the post what does the shows advanced settings tab show for the Seasons setting? As you can see from my image I was editing the show not the Library.

Ah - Ok… Thanks! I had to poke around to find show settings within the library. It seems the default for shows is to hide seasons. Would’t ‘Library Default’ be a better default?

Having it at the show level as well allows a user to hide seasons for certain shows.

That’s not the problem here. The problem is that for some reason plex decides some newly recorded shows should ignore the library defaults entirely. This means you have to go into those shows and say “use library default”. I see this a lot and it’s been reported multiple times. What is the point of having a default if it’s not used?

Agreed.

I had not heard of the default setting not being applied to new recordings. But haven’t been real active on the forums recently. I have replicated the issue with new recorded shows and filed a GHI with Plex to bring this to their attention.
