Do not prompt for unavailable updates

When installing Plex Media Server via a NAS package library, not every version is made available. It would be nice if Plex didn’t notify to update to versions that are not published in the package library.

There probably still be a notification after a time greater than the average update cadence. This is so we know if the NAS provider has dropped the ball. Also if there is a critical update. This would also help the NAS support team to realise they need to publish an update.

Plex is not in control if a NAS vendor is not updating their repository to include one of the public PMS releases. You also still have the option on most platforms to manually install a version downloaded from plex.tv…

An option to dismiss the update notification and another option to “Check for updates every XX days” should do the trick.

So either Plex needs to work closer with the NAS vendors, or make their software work better with the way NAS vendors operate. If vendors are not going to publish every update, then let them know which updates they should be targeting and just notify for that update track.

An option to check every XX days as Sharpbarb suggested would probably be a quick win.
