I’m all for updates and lambast those who don’t do it. That said, it’s getting pretty ridiculous the incessant number of Plex server update releases within a short period of time. Since January I’ve had six server releases thus far (months are dates downloaded)……

It’s even more annoying that I have to manually install them as my WD NAS (PR4100) doe not download and install since the Plex app was removed by WD from the app store sometime ago.
Microsoft’s servers don’t get updated that much so what’s the deal here???
Nobody forces you to update.
I’d rather prefer to get a lager number of updates as waiting for month (especially in case of you want to see a fix of a small but very annoying bug).
I was in a similar situation, and thus I searched for a script that runs every night to check whether my PMS has the latest version and updates if needed. Now I am very satisfied with it.
Maybe you will find a similar solution for your WD NAS.
Btw, Microsoft isn’t a good example for a commendable update policy there are indeed some rar updates across the year and you will hope that they’ve fixed a little bug what is important to you to be fixed … and then, it isn’t
I ask s serious question and get childish responses. Must be the school children at home. You children might also learn how to read. I know school is out, but…
Ok sir, serous answer: there might be exceptionally more bugs that have to be fixed. Some of them might be security related other don’t… we do not know. What I was trying to say is that especially in case of security related bug fixes, it is important to get fast updates.
Furthermore, as @JuiceWSA stated, some updates may be unstable regarding other features what makes it necessary to roll out another update.
Noone but the developers could answer your questions in detail.
Yes, it may be annoying to have to update manually in very short periods of time, but it may be important to do so.
There is one more point: just look at the change logs to see whether there are important improvements coming along with an update. If not, just skip it until the next update you are interested in.
Last but not least, please stop insulting other people who may help you. It does not reflect well on you! I just gave you an advice to look for a script for auto updates…
I’d actually wish we got way more updates using a continuous delivery method, even daily or multiple times a day. Deliver small and fast very often. If there is problems thev you fail fast and roll back the change that broke things.
I’m also using Linux on all home PCs and get updates daily. IMO MickeySoft and their delivery updates for patches is hugely flawed and should never be considered a good update approach.
