I went to install PHT on a computer the other day and ended up with PMP. At first I didn’t really care, but I really hate the interface… everything about it. The PC version was superior in every way and all the eye candy is gone.
I returned a Roku because of the interface, I have smart TV’s that I don’t use the plex app on all because I always found the windows version better. I went out of my way to build HTPC’s in all my rooms for plex clients, all because I found it to be better.
Why is there a pressing need to make the PC version like every other version that I have always avoided? Can someone please help me to understand this? What is it that people like about PMP?
I use it for one thing only: as a music application on my pc. Because the Web interface is the best one for music, and with pmp, I can have the web interface without keeping my web browser open.
For movie watching in the couch though, OpenPHT is much better and is what I use.
Hate PMP - severely limited functionality but yeah sure does the basic job of playing you’re media that’s about it. OpenPHT is completely awesome, tons of configurable options to set it up just the way you want it. Shame it’s not actually a Plex owned/supported product really.
