Do subtitles have a character length limit or special character restriction?

Server Version#: Docker 1.21.1.3876
Player Version#: Plex Web 4.47.3

The past few episodes of MacGyver have downloaded subtitles fine with Bazarr, but they won’t show up in plex as an option to choose them. As they work fine in VLC, I’m guessing it’s because the subtitle name has too many characters or special characters that Plex doesn’t like as the episode names are very long and have pluses. Here is the latest example.
MacGyver (2016) - S05E05 - Jack + Kinematics + Safe Cracker + MgKNO3 + GTO HDTV-720p.en.srt
Any guesses as to what the issue might be and what would be the easiest workaround?

  1. The TV show episode file name and the subtitle file name much match exactly, except for the language code & file extension portions.

  2. Make sure you have Local Media Assets enabled in Settings -> Agents -> Shows, TheTVDB and TheMovieDB sections.

After enabling, rescan the library then refresh the metadata.

  1. Plex ignores the episode name portion of the file name. You might try shortening the names and see if that helps:

MacGyver (2016) - s05e05.mkv (or mp4, etc)
MacGyver (2016) - s05e05.en.srt

Make a test TV show library and use just one or two episodes to test. If it works, you can change the entire show in the original library.

Steps 1 and 2 worked. Thanks!
