Doctor Who (2005) Season 7 - Mid Season Special

For those of you that have added Doctor Who (2005), how did you do Season 7? The Christmas special that year fell between episodes 05 and 06. I’d like for the Christmas special to display in the the proper place rather than at the end of the regular season episodes.

Is there any other way to force an episode “in between” to other Episodes? The way I’ve been making the specials show in the regular season is to add the specials as normal to Season 00 and let Plex import the metadata, then copy that data over to a copy of the show I put in Season 0X that I relabeled S06E14 (for example).

My idea was to rename the regular season episodes at S07E01 through E05, then E07-E13, and drop the Christmas special in as E06. Is it possible to do a fix match to load the E06 metadata even though the file is labeled E07?

If so - note the air date.
The episode will appear in On Deck at just the right moment.

Actually, I’m referring to S00E66 (The Snowmen). It aired between S07E05 and S07E06…

I didn’t think about On Deck, as I don’t use it… but I guess that’s always an option. Thanks for the tip!

For my own OCD, I may just have to create a dummy TV library and import Season 07 there, then copy the metadata over to the “live” Season 07 with episodes and the special in the order I want.

We’ll see how ambitious I am. lol

Just note that. Unfortunately, it will not be queue when binge-watching the episodes.

But be aware the special must have the correct date in order for it to be displayed OnDeck.

Thanks, @NewPlaza.

It looks like Fix Match is not available for seasons or episodes, only for the entire show. Is that correct?

You are correct.

Emby does this very well. And I know Kodi can do this as well. I get tripped up by this. I love Plex. So much so I purchased and use it as my primary. I would really like to see some engineering around making this work more intuitively. It can be a setting.
Doing this in the “On Deck” space is not the answer when you are navigating Season folders and don’t know where things fall. Also, I had that FAIL as I re-watched Stars Wars Rebel and tried to just allow it to manage the order.
I know the people behind Plex already do great things like the Intro skip and commercial removal from the DVR. So I have to believe it’s possible unless their is some significant difference in the coding and those other media managers.

thanks.

You mean from ‘Auto Play’?

I wouldn’t know, but I don’t have any trouble believing it.
I’ve been hating it since the day it showed up 'cause I can’t seem to get rid of it’s Post Play Screen I didn’t ask for, nor want.

I wish when you TURNED IT OFF - IT WENT AWAY.
Seems like such an easy thing…

I went through the trouble of making a playlist for Doctor Who and manually put the episodes in the correct order. Not sure if that is something you are willing to do but it is an option.
