I have 2 Plex servers and sometimes the media scanner stops working and the server settings become unavailable on one of the servers. When I log to the server and look at the process list there is a lot of defunct plex processes. If I stop and restart PMS then everything is fixed but until I do this the server will not scan for or add new files and I can not access the settings. I have had the issue on both servers at differant times. Both servers run Ubuntu 16.04.4 and PMS 1.11.3.4803
If you’re getting <defunct> this means process termination signals aren’t propagating back to Plex Media Server.
PMS is in the S1 state. This means it’s Sleeping and 1 indicates multithreaded (which it is).
I am highly suspicious of the system itself.
Can you provide the fill ZIP of the logs files?
Im also seeing this. Running plex in a container. need to restart the container on a daily basis now to avoid. Happend after upgrade to 1.18.0.1846-f62172e99
