Does plex break up a single stream into multiple TCP Connections?

So this is interesting. I have one person streaming one movie but it is showing 3 TCP connections to their IP all with about 300kbps…does plex break out a single stream into multiple tcp connections? Stopping the stream removes all three connections.

Those are sesssion connections to your port 32400… Look at the remote port. That person has 3 open sessions with you.

PMS uses TCP Keep-Alive and stays on the same port pair until the streaming session is complete.

I agree that the person has 3 open sessions, but my server logs, PlexPY and Plex “NowPlaying” only show this person streaming 1 movie. Can 1 movie cause 3 open sessions? Also when I stop the movie, the 3 sessions go away.

It can depend on the client. The Samsung client creates the most connections, it can create 50 + for a single stream.
