All my Willie Nelson Albums come under the Various Artist name.
These are the tags
They show like this
and if I click on the Various Artist name on the above it takes me to all my Wille albums (below) almost like that is his name. if I edit the Artist is does nothing.
I have done a Plex dance on all the albums, I did a database repair.
Any suggestions?
Either a single track or files of an entire album has Various Artists in its metadata and needs to be fixed to Willie Nelson for Album Artist.
Indeed it’s annoying but you’ll have to take all the newly added folders out of the directory, recheck each single file and it’s metadata to make sure that you have Willie Nelson set for the ALBUM ARTIST tag.
I hope the culprit is within that newly added batch, otherwise you’ll have to dig deeper as to what file is causing it.
Also, you could try UNMATCHING the albums you just added to see if it helps find the symptomatic files.
Did the unmatching thing also, the search finds the album, under Willie Nelson, and still labels it under Various. As you can see in the first picture, it does have a Album artist tag.
And just as a test, took another album of his, removed all the tags, retagged, added again, and still comes as Various.
Don’t search. Just edit the Artist. I think the issue may be because the file is m4a. I don’t think we read tags from those.
Well fixed it.
Removed all the albums, did a database rebuild, and re-added. Seems like there was some database corruption.
