Does Plex not support Channels?

On Shield Experience 7.0 I can’t get Plex to display a channel. Is that because I have a pin code on my account? I’ve seen YouTube videos of others with working Plex channels.

Channels are called Plugins since recently. You should be able to install the ones from the Plugins Directory.

First make sure you set the correct Region: In the Plex web interface go into Settings > Server > Plugins and select the correct region:

Then go back to the Home screen and click Plugins in the left sidebar:

Edit: PS: Plugins are broken in Plex for Android (Shield as well) version 6.16 and 6.17. That is NOT a plugin issue, but a Plex for Android issue!

Hey! Thanks for your detailed response! I was actually referring to the new Android Oreo experience on the shield. Each app, on the home screen, has its own “channel”. Plex supports the feature, but is not showing up for me. :frowning:

Nothing from Plex ever showed up in the Shield Experience 7.0/Android 8.0 Play Next “channel” nor would videos play from the My Newscast channel, on the home screen. Once I deleted the PIN from my Plex server user account…voila!..the magic happened. Plex videos now show up in the Play Next “channel”, My Newscast video links now work, and as an added bonus I even get Plex recommendedations on my Shield home screen now.

Ditching my PIN is problematic though. I want to keep my grandkids from accessing media other than children appropriate shows, and locking family member accounts is a good way to help accomplish this. They don’t live in my house, nor do they use my Shield, but I have to give up the Shield’s Plex channel functionality if I want to keep them away from media that is not child appropriate…? This functionality could use some work.

Plex and Nvidia, please put your heads together to come up with an option to display Plex content on the Shield Android 8.0 home screen for PIN protected family user accounts.
