I was wondering if the Plex amazon fire stick application let’s me use apple’s airplay to play movies on the fire stick. Can I do that or will I also have to download Plex on my apple device?
I don’t know if the Firestick is compatible with AirPlay on its own. I doubt it, since it’s an Apple technology.
While you can fling media from one Plex client to another, this has nothing to do with AirPlay.
If you want to use the Plex way of flinging media, then yes, you need to install the real Plex app onto your iDevice.
(There is no need to activate it with a purchase, if you only want to use it to browse your Plex library and to fling media.)
