From searching the forums I get that Plex won’t automatically pull collection art from an online source.
But I’m unclear on if it checks locally for that artwork.
The wording of “automatic” here:
I am aware that you can save an image file as poster.jpg in the location for a movie/tv and the server and automatically select that artwork when building/rebuilding your database.
Does anyone know if the same can be done for Collections? once you select an image for a collection, where is this data saved?
i use shield btw
any ideas would be appreciated
Confuses me as to whether or not it does check the folders for an image.
If it can’t/doesn’t, would that be considered a feature request different from [Implemented] Collection posters ?
Since the idea would be you place an image in the movie directory named something like “collection-poster.jpg” or “movieset-poster.jpg” and it scans for it?
Answer seems to be no. Added a recommendation for that here:
Hi,
It would be great if we can choose collection posters and background from the movies assigned to the collection. Right now I have to do it manually (https://plexcollectionposters.com is a great source for this) but sometimes one of the movies has a poster/background which would work well for the collection. TMDB also has collection posters, would nice to be able to pull those as well.
Thanks
