[Implemented] Collection posters

Hi,

It would be great if we can choose collection posters and background from the movies assigned to the collection. Right now I have to do it manually (https://plexcollectionposters.com is a great source for this) but sometimes one of the movies has a poster/background which would work well for the collection. TMDB also has collection posters, would nice to be able to pull those as well.

Possibly default to the earliest/first movie in the collection.

Btw KODI does that automatically with the correct fanart. And it’s free…

I’m a premium user since 2 days. Collections fan arts are honestly terrible.

A low-tech option similar to how posters are pulled in:

Would be nice. Only instead of:

  • cover.ext
  • default.ext
  • folder.ext
  • movie.ext
  • poster.ext

It would look for:

  • collection.ext
  • movieset.ext

It wouldn’t even have to check every film in the collection, just set the first one it comes across.

Since movies in a collection would likely have the same collection artwork, that would drastically cut down on how much manual labor goes into setting up collections correctly. And the results would look better than the default multi-poster.

Yep! I’ve just came from Kodi to plex and I’m loving everything except this absence!

considering collections has been around PLEX for a couple years, its really half baked in right now.

Closing this thread (releasing everybody’s votes)… with the (no longer so) new Plex Movie agent and automatically created collections, Plex will also automatically download posters and descriptions. This includes alternative posters to select from as with movies etc.
