Hey all, does anyone know if Plex works with sonos or if it will in the future?
Plex does not work on Sonos currently. As for the future, Sonos won't say.
Sonos is becoming the new Tivo, but if even a dinosaur Tivo can add Plex, there might be hope...
Have the Plex and Sonos guys spoken directly with each other, or is it end users on forums asking questions?
I don't think much will happen before the devs take an active interest in getting Sonos to support Plex.
And another thing: Subsonic has somehow managed to add support for Sonos without Sonos adding support for Subsonic. The server itself discovers if you have a Sonos on your network and configures everything for you.
Subsonic is open source so it should be relatively easy to figure out how they do it.

I got a Sonos system yesterday, consisting of a sound-bar, sub and x2 play speakers to create a surround environment. I have a WD external hard drive and also a WD external cloud drive, and have various data across both drives.
When accessing any files directly from the WD drive plugged into the USB port of my TV everything worked with the surround sound - using the TV's own media player not Plex...........however when using the WD Cloud and Plex no sound at all.
Spoke with Sonos today and the guy advised to change the audio from DTS to PCM on my TV settings and sound came through my sound-bar.........however not the other speakers and the guy said Sonos doesn't support DTS.
Was thinking of doing away with my WD Cloud and Plex and running my files directly to the TV via USB.............however I changed the playback from "auto select" to "direct streaming" and voila surround sound yay!! The problem with this however it is can drop out more than usual :-(
I believe I read people got it working using the basic DLNA but you run into limits with large libraries... I think it's 65k tracks
