I’m wonderen if it woud be possible to stream all sound from Plex to sonos players on the samen Lan. It woud be a great feature. Let’s say that you could pick sonos players from the dropdown stream menu in Plex. Thuis wouldn’t just be goed for music, but for all media played through Plex. And it should work on all machines on your network. My setup uses no internet at all. It’s just a Lan. This is what has gene wrong with the Spotify app. It just workshop when you have your PMS connected to the internet. It should also work when you’re on the samen lan, without sending data through servers of companies that sound not have my private information.

Not currently possible. Sonos devices don’t support Plex Companion, which is what Plex uses to stream to other devices. There is a Sonos beta app that will allow you to control your Sonos devices and read from PMS.

I know that it isn’t possible at the moment, but I don’t understand why there is a Plex pluggin in Sonos that just works when the Plex Server is reachable from the oustside.
Sonos has a couple of good things, but their controler isn’t one of them. The Sonos controller (security) seems to be out of date. At the moment Sonos can’t even connect to my home share on a FreeNas system.
If I add a spotify account, I keep getting messages that I can control Sonos through Spotify. But with Plex that’s nont the case.
Plex is great as a media management tool, but it shouldn’t even be nescesarry, to be connected to the internet.
That’s just an extra.
Sonos are just speakers. So they really shouldn’t need internet. That’s also just an extra.
I have the music that I want to play, I have a PMS that can stream the music and is good at data management and I have speakers (Sonos).
So why not through PLEX on a LAN.
