Does PMS collect stats about the servers it is installed on?

Stats like the type of hardware it is on, the CPU type, the OS, the storage, etc…

If it does not I think it should (with user approval of course) and then make the data public. It would be valuable information to have.

Related to another forum post I just put up: PMS setup survey survey

https://www.plex.tv/about/privacy-legal/

It would only be a legal issue if folks didn’t give their approval. I am saying Plex should collect this information after getting user approval and sharing it if the user approves (either with their name or anonymously). And I don’t mean details on the content (like what media users have) but rather their server/system/storage configuration.

Don’t think you understood FordGuy61’s reply. They already collect such information:
Paragraph L in privacy-legal:

Device Information.
Like many online services, we may collect information about the devices that are used to access our Services, such as the IP address of the device, the operating system and version of the device, the browser that you use to access a Plex web page, and the versions of the Plex technologies being used. We may also collect location information about the devices that access our Services.

Thanks for adding the detail. I should have done that instead of just a quick reply with just the link.

No problem. I wondered myself what was there, and since I was already there…didn’t hurt doing a quick copy+paste

Ah. I misunderstood his the reply then. I thought Ford was saying Plex cannot collect that data because its of legal issues.

If Plex is collecting the data, they should make it available for public consumption. I bet there is a wealth of useful information there.
