does python autostart?

Hi Guys,

just got plexconnect up and running on my old appletv2 :) surprised at how simple it actually was. Quick question I have my PMS on an old desktop I have standing around and every now and then it bugs out and needs a reboot, when this happens will I again need to run the python.py file or having run it once is it now all sorted? And maybe an even sillier question, after running python the first time I minimized the cmd window, does this need to remain minimized or can I now close it?

Thanks up front guys and excellent work by all involved!

You question is a little confusing. I assume what you mean is plexconnect is working on your host device and it is randomly crashing on your host device not the atv client. If it is the plex media server (pms) that is crashing this isnt the place for that question. If you run plexconnect on this host device and it is constantly crashing you may want to look into your log file to see why this is happening. If you want to deal with it just keep going into your processes and deleting all python processes then ropen command line and rerun plexconnect. I assume your os is trashed but without looking at your host it is hard to say.

Yes you will have to start Plexconnect after reboot and leave the terminal open unless you are using one of the AppleScript or launchctl or windows specific solutions to have Plexconnect load at startup. PMS will also have to start up at boot as well. These solutions can be found in various threads in this forum.

No, nothing’s crashing at all. Everything is working fine. My PC just needs a reboot every now and then as it gets slow. My question was just whether I’d need to restart everything manually after the restart for plexconnect to work. PMS already auto starts so just the plexconnect side then. Thanks for the answer
