Does the DVR Support OTA and Cable Tuner on Same Server yet?

I’d like to use both an OTA tuner and a tuner with a cable card on the same Plex server. Is that possible yet? I’ve read in the forums that it’s doable if the cable tuner does NOT have the cable card. But what about with the cable card? Will it work and provide different EPG for both?

Not at this time and I don’t recall any discussion of providing this capability in the near future. Best you could do at this time would be to have 2 servers. One with DVR configured for OTA and the other for Cable. You might be lucky and the cable and OTA channels are broadcast on the same channels numbers but not very likely from what I have heard from others. In my case they do match, for example I have a Prime with no cable card. My DVR is setup as OTA with my Connects, and Extend, and sometimes a Dual. I can also add my Prime to the available tuners because my local CBS, NBC, Fox etc are broadcast by cable company on same channels as OTA: 10.1, 19.1, 25.1, 57.1, etc. So I can easily match the cable channels to the same channel with OTA.

Got it, thanks. The setup like you have would work for me, problem is I’d miss the cable channels that aren’t available OTA.

Channels DVR handles this use-case well, and even lets you prioritize your HDHomeRuns so you can prefer recording from OTA for shows that are on both OTA and cable. It will also automatically fall back to the cable tuners if the OTA signal is not strong enough.

Any updates on this?>? This is super obnoxious…
