Does the Enhanced Video Player make Apple TV usable?

As many of you know, the Apple TV Plex app is hot trash. Playback of HEVC Content does nothing but stutter at random times, and has been for years now.

I am not a Plex Pass holder so I haven’t used the new video player at all.

Does the Enhanced Video Player on tvOS and iOS fix the HEVC stuttering issue that has plagued us for years now?

You can always try Plex Pass for a single month (for something like $5US) and see how well it works with the media files you have.

As an aside, I’m not having issues playing 10-bit HEVC files with the native player as long as the audio format is also compatible (and no subtitles).

I find the enhanced player quite good but you can’t use it for automatic bit rate selection (when streaming remotely) so it doesn’t help my shared users stop transcoding…
