Does the Freenas based Plex support TV Turners/DVRs

Does the Plex Media Server running on a Freenas support TV Tuners so that it can be used with Plex pass for OTA recoding of TV? Hauppauge lists tuners for Plex but they only list Windows and Linux support.

Freenas is essentially a batardized Linux based system not 100% sure about happauge but hdhr will work.

Wow, someone’s got a personal grudge here.
Let me point of the factual inaccuracies of your statement…

  1. FreeNAS is FreeBSD based, not Linux-based.
  2. The original BSD is based on a long forgotten Unix operating system and was initially released in 1977. So not sure how FreeNAS can be “bastardized Linux” when it predates Linux by almost 15 years.
  3. Linus Torvalds was annoyed by the licensing terms of a Unix operating system called MINIX and began work on Linux because of that. The early versions of Linux were developed on MINIX, could run MINIX programs, and even used MINIX components. So essentially Linux was originally a bastardized version of MINIX.

I guess you learn something new every day…
I got no grudge against any OS besides windows.
Didn’t know FreeNas was FreeBSD based.
And Unix is not long forgotten it’s still in use today and owned by Oracle.

I was referring to the specific version of Bell Labs Unix (Version 6) that BSD started from. At some point it stops being “Unix” and just becomes BSD, a “Unix-like” operating system.

While current FreeNAS is based on FreeBSD 11.2, the next version of FreeNAS (12) is likely going to be based on FreeBSD 12.1 – this is noteworthy in the Plex world as it will then meet the base requirements for hardware acceleration.
