I helped a friend get his FreeNAS machine configured to run Plex, but really I don’t have a lot of experience with to OS.
It has come time to finally rebuild my Plex Server environment after a house fire destroyed my previous Windows 2012 computer. I would like to move towards FreeNAS so that I can use my Windows license for other things, but I have one final reservation. I’m aware that Plex works great on this operating system, but I’d like to upgrade my Plex to an HDTV DVR now but would prefer to buy a Hauppage PCIx tuner rather than a Homerun box.
Has anyone been able to get this typically Windows-based hardware to work on FreeNAS? Conversely, if someone has any suggestions for a free OS/PCI card HDTV tuner combination (like Ubuntu) that works for PMS, then I’d take that as an answer as well.
