Dolby Atmos or TrueHD 7.1 via Amazon 4k Fire Stick

Is it possible to have Plex not Transcode the sound from some of my 4k files?

According to the Dashboard (of my Synology NAS based Plex Server) The 4k Video is being direct streamed but the Audio (TRUEHD 7.1) is be transcoded to EAC3.

Ideally, I’d like the audio to just be passed through to my Atmos Amplifier.

Plug the firestick into the Amplifier and pass the video to the tv.

While HDMI 2.1 and EARC promised to deliver Lossless audio passthrough from TV’s, ultimately the manufacturers have so far chosen to not do that.

Amazon Fire TV devices do not support passthrough for TrueHD audio. It will be transcoded to a supported format.

Blu-ray discs with TrueHD audio also include an AC-3 5.1 audio track. If possible, choose the AC-3 audio. You still won’t get Atmos, but the audio will direct play instead of transcode.
