Dolby vision content looks too dark and is washed out

Server Version#: 1.25.7.5604
Player Version#: 8.31.0.31311 (9286d42a)

I’ve found that playing Dolby Vision content through Plex on my Sheild TV Pro results in an image that’s too dark and washed out. Playing the exact same content through Kodi displays the image perfectly.

The Plex server shows the Direct Play is used, so no transcoding.

Here are the details for the Criterion 4k release of Mulholland Drive that has this issue.

Tried the latest beta (9.0.0.31604) and the issue with Dolby Vision still exists. Plex is definitely passing the fact that the video is in Dolby Vision, since the TV (Sony 65X930E) goes in to DV mode, but it just doesn’t look right.

One thing I did fine is that DV videos recorded with an iPhone play back perfectly. Those are a different DV profile, which I’m guessing is what’s causing the issue.

Is there anything on the roadmap to fix Dolby Vision playback? Since Kodi is able to playback the videos without issue, that at least shows it’s possible to due on the Shield.
