Double Transcoding After PMS Reinstall

While attempting to address the DVR recording bug found in Version 1.7+ (https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/274585/issue-with-tuners-and-recordings/p1) I took the community suggestion and downgrade to PMS 1.61. on my Mac OSX. In doing so i followed the Plex support guidelines executed the procedures detail for OS X (https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201941078):

Having done the uninstall and subsequent reinstall, my PMS now runs a superfluous transcoding session for ever legitimate session. With 1 file processing PMS say 2 session in progress, with 2 PMS says 4, etc. Additionally to PMS showing double, my CPU activity monitor also shows that there are 2 distinct transcoding treads running for every file begin processed. For each “real” task there is a transcoding task utilizing between 70-95% of CPU and then a second that is using between 0.1-2% of CPU. This is duplicated for each “real” transcoding task. I understand these 2nd jobs are not taking up much CPU, but I’m concerned this is symptomatic of a larger problem. Additionally, since this issue started, my PMS has started to crash every so often during seemingly normal operation.

In an attempt to fix this issue, I tried to upgrade to 1.7 again (and to 1.8 beta) but the issue still continues. This was never the case with my original install of PMS 1.7

Thanks in advance for an assistance.

@DaveBinM I see from your posts on the “Status of “100% complete” recording bug” thread that you’re quite tuned into the DVR issue that was the root of my current issue. I also see from your server information that you might be knowledgeable about my double transcoding as it pertains to an OS X PMS environment. I’d imagine your in high demand elsewhere, but would appreciate any advice you can offer. Thank you.
