Download issue

Hi there,

I have the lifetime plex subscription but I’m unable to download my movies or shows to my phone. Any idea why?

Can you provide more information on server OS, phone OS, and any messages your phone may be showing?

Is the phone currently in the same local network as your server?
Downloads are by default only allowed while being at ahome. There is a setting in the mobile app to change this.

Are you trying to download from your own server?
The owner of your shared server needs to explicitly grant you the right to download from their server, which you don’t have at the moment. Downloading material from the freely accessible library on plex.tv is also not possible.

So I am able to download my media items (movies and shows) on my iPad. My phone is iPhone 17 pro max. I’m on the same network as my plex system at home. See attached screenshot. The start download button doesn’t provide any action

What version are you on? 2026.13.0 fixed an issue where the download button didn’t work properly.

I’m on client version: 2026.13.0 (1835)

Platform version: 26.5.2

I tried again on my iPad and I can still download but on my iPhone I can’t. I tried to switch the resolution to 480p and still no luck.
