Hi!
I just upgraded to a Lifetime Plex Pass subscription and I’m trying to download some media on my phone but it doesn’t work at all. It just says (there was an error downloading this element), and then tries again a minute later, but nothing happens. It doesn’t even start encoding the movie to send it.

Any thoughts? I’ve tried in several devices and it’s the same error in all of them.
On what platform and with what specific versions of the respective Plex app and Plex Media Server are you experiencing this?
There’s a number of known issues Plex have recently addressed (incl. workarounds for some).
you trying to download from your own server or someone else’s?
So, I tried again today, and it seems that it downloads if the episode or whatever I’m downloading it’s smaller in size. But if I try and download a movie (hoping it will transcode and convert itself so it doesn’t download 5GBs) that’s when the error appears and neither the transcode nor the downloading start.
Thoughts?
That’s up to the download settings in your app. IIRC Plex defaults to max/original quality (if the format is supported) — but you can adjust those settings to your liking. Changes will apply to all future downloads.
If this is big files… could it be there’s not enough free storage to download the file?
