Downloaded content not playing after disconnect

Server Version#: 1.22.0.4163
Player Version#: Windows 1.29.1.1974-a65b3ef3

I’ve noticed an odd issue on the recent builds of the windows plex app.
When I download videos to view offline they don’t play, unless the app was left open when the disconnect occurred.

So if download videos, restart my laptop and startup offline the videos will not play. If I sleep my laptop with the app open they will play once the the laptop is open.

Closing and reopening the app once offline stops videos playing.

Has anyone else experienced this or have any advice?

When we download videos we’ll also grab codecs necessary to play them later. Maybe there’s an issue there.

Will you reproduce the problem playing videos when offline then quit the app and share your Plex.log from %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex\?

Here you go :).
Plex.log (111.4 KB)

Thanks @jababda. I don’t spot the logs typically associated with playback. Would you mind describing what happens visually when you click try to play when offline? I’ll give it a go here too.

Actually holy bagels I can reproduce the problem here too. Nothing happens when clicking on the play button for downloaded content when offline. (?!?!?!?!)

On it.

A fix for this will release on Mar 25. Thanks alot @jababda for letting us know. Turns out it was a significant flaw!

Haven’t seen any updates roll out. Do we have an new eta?

I am getting this exact same behavior on my Surface Go 2. I didn’t realize it until @jababda said it, but if I disconnect while it’s open they still play but after a re-open of Plex they no longer do. I’m not sure if this was the same process but I am trying to sync my files remotely as opposed to on my Plex Media Server’s network. I would try it locally on the network but don’t have access to it for another week.

Fix is available in 1.30.0, released today. Sorry for the couple day lag.

If it helps, in the Mac player app it also happens.

1.30.0 had trouble getting off the ground. Our 1.30.1 update for Mac and Windows finally takes are of this.
