Hi, I’m curious to know if downloading an entire library will be available as a feature in the future on android, as I read sync is planned to be removed some time and replaced by the new downloads which doesn’t have it currently.
Please don’t take out this important feature, I just want to have my music saved to my phone, it is the only thing I use the mobile app for, and I can’t go through thousands of albums downloading them one by one.
There is no play to have a single “Dwonload” for an entire library. As a work-around create a playlist that includes all your songs, then download that.
Can you please explain why? I appreciate your workaround, but think it through from the user perspective: I would have to maintain a playlist everytime I add a song or an item just for the basis of the sync / download.
The point of the request is to not have to worry about whether something is downloaded or not. Phone now have a huge storage and I can easily fit my entire library and more on it. And when using Android Auto, I don’t want to have to understand whether this song is downloaded or not.
And technically speaking, all you have to do is add an icon to the library screen top part and just cycle through all the element of the library. Does not seem like a complex thing.
Just got plex pass and am extremely disappointed that there is no option to download/sync the entire library. Even the default Plex app has this option. I was considering buying the lifetime pass but unless this feature is on the horizon I don’t think I will renew it.
it’s a current feature in Plex, but it’s not a feature in Plexamp. I didn’t know they were removing Sync though, is it in favor of that new Download thing?
If they actually get rid of Sync or offer no way to download the whole library with Sync then I am off the service; at least right now I can sync my library and then play it with an external audio player.
1st: there’s the workaround described by MovieFan.Plex (e.g. using a smart playlist that automatically includes all music)
2nd: as for Plexamp, elan has mentioned the 24h download limit will be lifted at some point in the future (sure, there’s no ETA but at least a silver lining for those desperate to keep their full library stored on their phone).
Phew, good to know that it’s going to be eventually lifted. Feels like such an arbitrary and pointless limit, it’s not like the files are being downloaded off their servers. I’ll just use Emby or Jellyfin until this gets removed, but glad to know it’s on the horizon, thanks for the update!
