I’ve got my Plex server behind a vpn and I’ve redirected 32400 to my forwarded port. Everything works fine except for downloading subtitles. I get “Failed to download subtitle” when trying to add them. Is there a special port for downloading subtitles that I need to forward? Everything works as expected when I disable the vpn connection.
What VPN do you have? I’m on PIA and this used to happen to me too but I don’t really use the feature so I never looked into a solution
Not too long ago I tried it again and the problem was gone, without doing anything
What I did notice which is weird. If I turned off the VPN, searched a subtitle and let it load?
Then all the subtitles for any title would load fine, even after turning the VPN back on
My vpn is AirVPN and I’m on wireguard. Strange that it worked even after you put it back on again. I was thinking it might be a dns problem but I tried a browser and it detects opensubtitles.org and I can also download subs with it.
It seems to have been resolved. Looking at /etc/iptables/rules.v4 I noticed I had an old port forwarding to 32400. After deleting that everything seems to work.
