Using the search function for subtitles worked fine until some months ago when it started failing 99% of the time, independent of which client you use. I share my library with my family, but they’ve basically stopped using it because there’s rarely any working subtitles.
I’ve been looking for solutions since, but nothing seems to help and it looks like a fix from Plex won’t happen either. I guess they’re more focused on monetising their product more and more these days.
Has anyone managed to get this working again? I’ve created a opensubtitles account and added it the the agent settings but it doesn’t make any difference. Also looked into Bazaar, but I can’t make it scan my library and download subtitles. Also it seems it should be tied to Radarr and whatever, which makes it a bit more complex than I’d preferr.
They removed the functionality for automatically searching for subtitles when they changed to the new Agent. You still can manually look for subtitles from the player and it will work. But then later on the subtitles might be deleted and next time you play the same file there won’t be any subtitles. That’s the new Plex Style, removing functionality left and right.
I bit the bullet and installed Bazaar. And you are correct, you need Radarr if you want Bazaar to look for movie subtitles and then you need Sonarr if you want Bazaar to look for TV Series subtitles. It was a lot of work but it was worth. Bazaar has been a good experience.
And since I already installed them, now I use Sonarr and Radarr.
