Subtitles don't automatically download

Ive been struggeling with subtitles since i have plex. The problem is that the new plex agents for movies and TV shows do not provide subtitles at all. Then there are the legacy versions that do provide them (sometimes) but ive had mixed experiences with those. I now have sub zero subtitles installed and it also only sometimes finds the subtitles and if it finds them, they are not synced with the audio. The weird part is that when i click on add manually (like on the episode itself) it always finds de perfect subtitle file. My question is, why can it not find them automatically but it can manually? Does sub zero need very specific naming formats or am i doing something wrong?

pretty sure it depends on the rating of the match as to if it will automagically add them.

i don’t use sub-zero, but rather opensubtitles integration.

The current agents don’t automatically retrieve subtitles. They also don’t interact with ancillary metadata agents like Subzero.

The closest spiritual replacement for Subzero is Bazarr. It also has an excellent Audio/Text synchronization feature, but it depends on Sonarr/Radarr.

I will try to lower the minimum rating in sub zero to see if that works.

I tested it but no results. It finds subtitles but they are way out of sync. The weird part still is when i add them manually (from opensubtitles) and just add the first one it works perfectly. Why can plex find the perfect subs manually but not automatically, even with the sub zero plugin?

Ok i fixed it. I just dowloaded filebot and it scanned my entire library and found prefect matches for almost all files. I had to do it in a couple of passes because of the subtitle download limit of 200 per day.

good result, gonna be honest i only found out that subs and plex is a pita after having to provide them for someone, before that i was blissfully unaware.

The real issue i think is that unlike common or garden metadata subs are considered intellectual property. it’s so bad that in Australia at least opensubtitles is actually blocked due to “copyright infringement”. it’s nuts.

i mean look at this stupidity.
