Downloads don't contain any external subtitle files

Downloading a movie in the new client results in no external subtitle files downloaded, even subtitle files that are next to the movie file on the server (not found by searching from the web client), which differs from the report at Download of media with "searched" subtitles not downloading the subtitles

For example, on the windows server I have

After downloading the movie on the mac client, I only have

So when I watch the downloaded copy on the mac client I don’t have any subs. Which is a non-starter for foreign movies like this one.

The player reports that the subtitles are available, but selecting it has no effect:
