Dragging to change order of custom collection has stopped working

Today I noticed that dragging and dropping to re-order films within a custom ordered collection has stopped working. I can no longer drag and drop films at all to re-order. I just get a plus sign appear over the cursor and I can’t move anything. Have tried restarting the server, rescanning all the files and metadata, and updated the latest software but nothing helps.

It’s really frustrating. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for report. You should be able to use the local web app at serverIPaddress:32400/web which is still at 4.125.1

I’m having the same problem. I added a couple items to a collection and tried to manually move/sort them by dragging and dropping, but it doesn’t work. I’ve also restarted the server, tried it on several applications, including the web app, but nothing works.

The workaround described by BigWheel will apply for you too until the hosted web app has been fixed

I tried the web app. I didn’t have any luck with that either. However, unless I’m not understanding what the “web app” is, that is showing a version number of “1.40.1.8227”, which is the same as the version number on the Windows and Mac programs/apps.

The web app is using http://[local IP address of your PMS]:32400/web — or if you’re on the same machine: http://127.0.0.1:32400/web in your browser.

Since the latest update, I can no longer change the order in my collection.
Before the update, I could just drag and drop files in the order i want them to show up but this no longer works. Tried with the plex player app and on chrom/firefox.

sorry I noticed that someone already opened a ticket for the issue..

OK, by using the server IP along with “:32400” after it, I am indeed able to reorder (i.e. drag and drop items in the collection".

Thanks for your assistance.

Since I have you (or anyone else), I have quite a few problems with collections generally, which I will note here in the hope that they might be addressed with the update to fix the “drag and drop” issue from this thread or in some future update:

  • For my larger collections (say, e.g. 60-75 items), when I add items to my collection, the first add works fine, but if I add more than one at a time, the whole collection starts to go crazy. The subsequent adds replace the previous one and various items start to “move in and out of their location”. I essentially have to close the app and reopen it to be able to actually manually sort. Therefore, I often add an item, close the app, reopen it, resort,… then add another, close, reopen, resort, etc. again,…etc.

  • After adding a few items and dragging and dropping them where I want them, 5 or more items move themselves somewhere else (usually something I added and manually moved along with several items that followed it).

  • If I add an item to a collecton where the item is already in another collection(s) which has been manually sorted, then the item in the other collection will move itself to the front and will need to be manually moved again. It would be great if there was some kind of “lock” funtionality to a “custom” (manually ordered) collection order.

The above are probably not always easy to understand without actual examples. So, please let me know if these are things that can possibly be fixed and if you need additional information.

Again, thank you so much for your assistance.

I have this problem too, quite annoying.

It works again fine when I use http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/ thanks for the work around for the time being.

When do you think this bug might be fixed?

Exactly the same for me.

This still doesnt work form me. I can now drag and drop, but they arent saved where I drop them. They get placed in a random location in the collection.

Again, using the workaround, I’m able to manually move items. It generally works for one, let’s say, addition. However, if I add several items and then move them, the collection will move 10 or so different items somewhere else. I then have to move them back where they belong, whereby, it will move 9 of those somewhere else, and so on and so on. Had to move things literally about 10-15 times to finally get them to stick.
