Plex Collection - Oorder not saving?

Server Version#: 1.23.6.4863
Player Version#: 4.61.2

Hey everyone,

With the latest Plex update,

Has anyone had issue with their collection order not saving? Seems to be very hit and miss. Sometime they would save, sometime when you re-organise and exit the collection the order is jumbled up again.

Same issue here.

Player: 4.62.1 (Local)
Server: 1.24.2.4973

Any updates on this issue team? Latest update seems promising but the issue is still there.

how large are your collections that it is happening to? Assuming you are suing the drag and drop, rather than a smart collection with filter+sort

Thanks for the reply.
I’ve tried both large (250) and small (25) collections, both same results.

Correct I’m using the drag and drop method.

Same issue. Thought it would be fun to put my AFI Top 100 collection in order finally, but the web app is way too buggy! I’ll drag and drop films in the right order, but it only saves maybe 1 out of 3 tries. Twice, I simply changed poster art and the collection reloaded with the old order when I clicked “Save Changes.” It’s incredibly frustrating and makes the custom order feature worthless. Also, will support for this be coming to the Windows client any time soon?

Thank you.

Running PMS 1.24.3.5033-7000 on Synology DSM 7.

Also having this issue running PMS (4.66.1) on ubuntu. Small collection (25ish) larger library (4000+).

Just found the issue for me at least. If you have Plex open in another tab it seems to not save the position.

I had not thought of trying that. Which browser are you using?

Chrome

I have this issue too. Seems to happen for all collections: big/small, movie/TV episode/music, etc.

Still seems to not be fixed in the latest version.

PMS Version 1.24.4.5081
Plex web Version 4.63.0

Custom collection order isn’t saving here either. Just created a 254 episode TV collection. I re-order a bunch of episodes with drag and drop and then all of a sudden it’ll start re-ordering episodes on its own inside the page. Tried a smaller collection of just 12 episodes, same thing happens.
Server: 1.24.3.5033 (Windows) & 1.24.5.5173 (Linux)

Still seems broken on latest BETA Version 1.25.0.522

Sorry have not figured this out yet. I just wanted to confirm that you don’t have the web app open in multiple tabs when rearranging the collections

Hello team!

I’ve also been experiencing this issue. This is a major problem for someone who heavily relies on collections being sorted by “custom”.

  • Expected behavior: when a collection is set to custom sorting, I should be able to reposition the ordering of all of its items.
  • Actual behavior: I am able to reposition the ordering of its items by dragging them using the “hamburger” icon on the poster, but after refreshing the page the order I chose is not kept.

Other observations:

  • The mistakes in the ordering seem to happen consistently when you are changing the ordering of the first item of the list.
  • When you being dragging by mistake by clicking in any other part of the poster than the “hamburger” icon, the item is dragged and reposition and the actual “click” event of a poster takes place, taking you to the details page of the item you were dragging. When this happens, the sorting of all the collection gets reset to an unexpected sorting (it’s not alphabetical, not by date, and not the one I had chosen)
  • I don’t have Plex open on another tabs of my browser.
  • Sizes of the affected collections: 6 movies, 23 movies, 12 movies, 10 movies. The issue happens in all the collections.
  • All the responses of the /move endpoint return a 200 OK, with a metadata property containing exactly one item. The name of this item does not match with the item I was originally dragging. E.g. I drag a movie with title Alien 3 in a collection with 6 movies but the response of /move returns just one item with title Alien.

Software versions:

  • Plex web version: 4.66.1
  • Plex server version: 1.25.0.5282

Any updated on this issue guys? Recently moved my install from Windows to Linux and the same issue persists…

Plex Web: Version 4.66.1
PMS: Version 1.25.2.5319 running on Ubuntu 20.04.

Custom ordering is still majorly broken. The flaky saving is annoying, but just as bad is changing the placement of a movie in one custom ordered collection affects the movie’s position in other custom ordered collections. Usually if I reorder a movie in collection A, it will move it to the front of Collection B.

Hi guys. We think we’ve identified the issue. Anyone with this, can you provide me your database file so we can check and verify our theory?

I can send mine through, can you point me to which db files you need? (running Plex on Ubuntu)
