Plex is just ridiculous at the moment. I just want to watch my content on an Apple TV model 4. the server is almost never available to me. I can hardly watch a simple sd 720p video. The library is busy or not available at all.
I disabled the podcast and other Nonsens to me but it is no end in sight. I don‘t want free content from plex. I just want to see my content. It seems like it is not possible.
Can you please reverse all the updates and bring back an plain simple version?
What do I have to do to make it work between the Apple TV in my local network and my Apple TV in my local network - both connected over cat6 gigabit cables?
So what exactly is the issue with your server/content?
Are you using the new / experimental player of the Apple TV client or the classic one? When you play a video… can you go to the dashboard/now playing section of your Plex Media Server via Plex Web and check if the video is playing directly or if it’s being transcoded (partly/fully)?
Can you access it through Plex Web (e.g. https://app.plex.tv/desktop) or other clients without those issues?
My issue with the server is, that I can’t access it from the apple tv app. I deleted the app now and reinstalled it. Now it seems to access the server normal and is not giving the “not reachable” error. This is a first. I barely use plex anymore and every time I start the app it change a lot, funtions I don’t need or opted in to use.
It used to just work when I bought into plex. Now it requires me to constantly deal with the settings/installs.
I can access the server via the web browser now too.
What is not working for me still: Can’t add the music folder called music on my nas to plex. It is not reading the contents. It has privileges on the user and group.
That used to work before. (- Fixed: I’ve set up a new folder to fix this issue).
I still don’t like the web browser refreshing the start screen every second. No button to disable this I guess? I’ve disabled the start screen and still seem not to end up in the way plex behaved when it was simple.
Where can I make suggestions to the plex devs? I really don’t like all the added features to stream what plex offers or recommends form you guys.
I like a plain old plex where I feed it my folders and can access this. No additional tidal, podcast, recommended or other (all disabled in the options already). Like how plex was a couple years ago and seems to function as expected. What a plex light, plex boomer or give me options to opt in instead feeding me new stuff?
When I start plex on the web or apple tv I just want to see my content - no recommended, up next or what have you …
