DS918+ and plex

Hello All,

I have a DS918+ which has been happily running plex until it told me i needed an update, since then it no longer sees the media located on the NAS.

All my media is located in a directory called Media_Files which the plex account has R/W access to but upon accessing the plex server it tells me to install a plex server.

I have tried removing and re adding the app and also in a moment of pure madness created and removed accounts.

It’s possible that if you upgraded from an old enough version (I forget where the change occurred) Plex Media Server was running with admin privileges; it no longer does so, and hasn’t for a while. So, it may be worth your time to check the access permissions for the Plex user to ensure it has access to your media; this post describes the requirements:

I checked that and permissions are fine, what i have noticed is that even if i delete the service and app if i reinstall i don’t go through first setup which i thought would be the case.

So just reinstalled plex again and this time it goes through the setup and sees my folders.

grumble grumble

Ahhhhhhhhh i think i know whats happening then.

I have just recently started using Pi-Hole for DNS, i’ll check the logs there
