[DS918+ - DSM7] Plex unable to play certain files but on (Android) mobile apps

Server Version#: 1.25.3.5409
Player Version#: Varies per device; “closest” is Roku Stick Plex App: Version 6.9 - build 114

Hello everyone,
I searched far and wide, but could not find anyone else lamenting my issue, so no solution either: last Black Friday I decided to finally move my Plex Server from my windows machine to a dedicated NAS (in subject); while with the Win 10 distro I never had any playing issue, not on local nor remote access, a little while after I “migrated” to the NAS I started having issues, leading to my present situation; the only players that work smoothly regardless of what I watch are Android apps (2 Android smartphones + 1 Amazon Kindle Fire); everything else (Chromecast, Plex App on smart TVs, even my Roku on the same network) cannot play some stuff (some of which I was able to play on the Roku device the first time).

Since I know it is all a bit generic, please let me know what further info you may need (encoders are all h264, x264, x265; anything else).

Thanks in advance for your help.

Please do the following:

  1. Settings - Server - General - Show Advanced
    – Make certain DEBUG logging is enabled
    – Make certain VERBOSE logging is disabled
    – SAVE if you make any changes

  2. Now recreate the failure

  3. Let the system sit idle for 20 seconds afterward so the logs can flush out

  4. Settings - Server - Troubleshooting (left panel) - Download Logs

  5. Attach the ZIP file.

Thank you very much for your prompt response.
I finished watching something (no issue via the Roku) and now recreated the issue; here are the logs:

Thanks again.

@Da_Real_Pope

Thank you for the logs.

The problem you have is simple to correct.

You have more media folders than Linux (what DSM is) than the default kernel table can hold.

You can easily increase the size.

Here is the procedure.

Thank you oh so very much!!!
It seems to be solved, at least on the Roku (testing with The Rookie, Young Sheldon, Everybody Hates Chris).
I’ll have the rest of my people check their devices!
Thanks again very much, I’m saving FAQ 16 in my Bookmarks
