I recommend installing the package from Plex.tv

Reasons:

  1. If you really want to add the Docker overlay, you still can, and remove it at any time

  2. There are changes coming in PMS which you’ll want to see.

  3. You won’t need to expose any HEVC licensing. PMS & your PlexPass already include that licensing.

  4. If you have PGS subtitles which need to be burned-in all the time, you’ll want a stronger CPU than the Synology. If you have text-based (SRT) then those are sent as a 3rd stream with no burn-in required.

Regarding a fresh setup, may I recommend you give a read here to help avoid some pitfalls.
