Ah - I misunderstood! I added permission to the top level share through the Shared Folder interface and it fixed everything.
I was trying to avoid giving permission to all files and folders on the share which is why I hadn’t done that originally. I realize now that I just needed to make sure to not check the “apply to all sub-files/folders.” Thanks!
I think we’re having a disconnect here - I’m saying everything works perfectly. I’ve checked all libraries across multiple files and they play flawlessly.
Step 1 above gives PlexMediaServer access to my NAS share - but just the root, nothing below it (not even files).
Step 2 gives PlexMediaServer specific access to my Movies folder etc., which sits in the root of NAS, and all sub-files/folders. Doing it this way ensures that PlexMediaServer has no access to unrelated folders/files.
–NAS (Permission gained from Step 1)
----Other folder (No access)
----Movies (Permission gained from Step 2)
------Files/subfolders (Permission gained from Step 2)
