Hi All,
Was hoping someone can kindly help here who may have experienced the same issue. I seem to have issues with playing back DTS 5.1 audio as it seems to come through in Stereo. However, if I am playing an AC3 surround audio, that seems to playback just fine.
Can anyone please point me in the right direction here with regards to setup and I am assuming I have something not quite setup correct either on the Plex server running on my Mac or the Plex client on the Firestick - I am using an Amazon Firestick (4k version) which is connected to my Marantz receiver via HDMI.
You can swap Firestick versions there but there’s no real mention of DTS support on any of the Fire sticks.
Edit: Doing a search in these forums and web looks like this is a common hiccup. DTS support on LG and Samsung TVs is also gone (even as passthrough) so I think it’s becoming harder to find native support for DTS with Dolby Digital Plus and Atmos taking over for most of it now.
Edit2: Roku can passthrough DTS if you’re looking for a similar alternative to a Firestick with DTS support.
The FireStick is connected directly to your receiver, correct? Not passing through the TV using HDMI-ARC.
No Amazon Fire device supports dts passthrough.
dts audio direct plays when using a FireStick. You can see this in the Plex Dashboard.
However, the FireStick converts the audio to AC3 or EAC3 before sending it to the attached receiver.
In the Plex app on the FireStick, set Passthrough = HDMI.
In the FireStick audio settings, try Best Available. If you do not get 5.1 audio, then choose Dolby Digital or Dolby Digital Plus, depending on the capabilities of your receiver.
