It seems to passthru everything else ok, but DTS stuff, anyone else having this issue? It used to work fine.

Can you list all your devices and how they are connected?

I have had issues with DTS not playing IF it is the second audio track, but if it is the default audio track, it plays just fine. Some files DTS is the only audio track and there are no issues at all. The only work around that works is if you use Kodi and have DLNA enabled it will play the DTS audio track with no issues.

So as long as DTS is the Default audio track, then it works great.

I have somewhat the same issue (actually I was coming here to make a post about it).

For me it’s all about track order, being marked default doesn’t seem to make a difference.

My setup is PMS on a PC > Xbox X > Yamaha RX-V681 all running the latest versions of apps and firmware as of today. And I know for a fact that all of the settings on everything are correct. If I rip a movie with only Atmos, or only DTS:X, or only AC3, the receiver will show that those codecs are being received and output.

If I have an Atmos or DTS(anything) above an AC3 track the Atmos and or DTS will play, but the Yamaha receiver will literally not output any sound from the AC3 track. If I play the same file on anything else all of the tracks will direct play and have sound. If it run this same file through MKVToolNix and only reorder the track (don’t change anything with default) to put the AC3 on top and the Atmos and or DTS below. The receiver will output sound on the AC3 track and not on the lower ones. This leads me to believe that the file and audio tracks are not the problem.

The reason I think this is a Plex Xbox app issue is because whenever the receiver doesn’t output sound on whichever track, the receiver never shows a change in it’s input signal. It looks like the receiver is never getting any audio information.

I’ve spend the past several days troubleshooting this. My wife thought I was nuts before, now she says she has confirmation.

I’ve tested this on my Xbox Series X (fails), on my nVidia Sheild 2019 Pro, works fine. Same Amp, same film.

My amp is a Yamaha RX-V6A (Latest firmware). Strange stuff

Do you have the same issue as me as to where there will literally be no sound coming out?

Would you mind testing my theory and reorder the audio tracks with MKVToolNix to see if you can get it to work?

Yup, no sound at all.

Here’s a screenshots of MKVToolNix

That’s so strange. Try and put the one that has no sound on top.

I guess it still could be a Yamaha receiver issue. Maybe someone with a different brand could chime in with their experience.

I’ve had this issue with no sound from DTS only movies for ages with Xbox One X. DTS-HD typically fine, DTS only no sound.

I posted about it ages ago but didn’t get anywhere with it from memory.

Using Denon AVR

Edit, see [BUG] Xbox One X playback of movies with DTS sound is silent

I made some sample files from one master file. I used MKVTooNix to only rearrange or remove audio files. For me, if a file has two audio tracks the second file (DTS or AC3) will have no sound, but the first will. The DTS only played just fine for me.

Again my setup is PMS on a Win 10 PC > Xbox X > Yamaha RX-V681 all running the latest versions of apps and firmware as of today

AC3 over DTS

DTS over AC3

DTS Only

Came here and I’ve noticed the same thing. No AC3 5.1 sound output when it’s not 1st in the list of audio tracks. I thought I was going mad for a second so glad it’s not just me!

My setup is pms on Mac Mini M2 - Xbox Series X - Sony X90J - Sony bdv-e3100 5.1 Home Theatre system over HDMI eArc.

Do DTS only file have sound for you?

Just tried a 5.1 dts audio track (it was the second track) and it worked for me.

I do recall having issues with regular dts prior to the last update though (they removed dts software decoder last update). Maybe that fixed the issue.

However I get no sound at all from any AC3 5.1 audio tracks regardless of audio track order. Even when it’s the default audio track I get no sound.

sadly, I have similar issues with passthrough DTS from xbox series x to AV receiver. Some files work, some do not. when it does not there are several audio tracks in it. I have never had such issues with xbox one x.

Just for another point of reference I played all three of the sample files I supplied above on a Fire Stick on the same Yamaha AVR and all audio tracks on all files (direct) played just fine.

I had a related but different issue where dts wont decide when the dts sound unbound app with license is installed, I’m trying to listen via headphones but just doesnt work. Uninstalling it allows sound but it’s not dts:x virtual surround. Frustratingly no progress was made with it. So half my library doesn’t play properly.
