Server Version#: 1.24.5.5173
Player Version#: Plex for Xbox v2.83.1 (client v5.26.1)
I have Xbox One X connected via HDMI to a Denon AVR that can decode DTS-HD MA, True HD, DTS etc etc
I can playback DTS-HD MA, True HD, AC3 files all fine and audio is passed through to my AVR and decoded.
Only problem is movie files with DTS only soundtrack - Plex plays these but I hear no sound at all.
Plex web does not show any transcoding is taking place.

Unfortunately nothing to contribute other than I am experiencing the same issue. Just silence when playing files with DTS-HD 5.1. Works fine when playing through my HTPC, but I prefer using the Xbox for HDR support. I have audio passthrough enabled, and the DTS app installed. When playing my receiver info shows nothing for the audio format being played, just blank where it would normally show the codec. Hoping someone knows the answer to this one.
As per my post DTS-HD MA works fine, it’s plains DTS that doesn’t work for me.
Fair enough, I tried your sample file and was able to play the German dolby track, but same issue with the DTS track. I don’t have many (if any) standard DTS files so even getting to where you are with DTS-HD would be a huge bonus. Either way hopefully someone who knows will respond.
Still broken in latest v2.84.2 (client v5.27.2) release
Any update Plex support ?
I am experiencing the same issue with the last version: no audio when playing some DTS and DTS-HD audio with my XBOX. Some others DTS-HD are working and some aren´t. This does not happen when playing via PC version.
Any update Plex support ?
@Moussa can you help please ? Example file in OP.

Still patiently waiting for Plex support to help…
Any update please Plex support?..
I have nothing to add either except that I’ve noticed this happens when it’s playing in DCA format. If I disable direct play it plays back with sound as it transcodes the audio to AC3.
It does have an error in the play back information saying something along the lines of “decision: (blank) reason: can not playback protocol: dash codec: dca. dca can only be played via direct play”
Seems like a codec issue on the Xbox client side - it is not making a decision on what to do but it can’t play the dca codec.
I am seeing the same issue as well on some of my 4k movies (Xbox One S not the X), on looking at the Xbox menu (hit the Xbox button on the controller) the interesting thing is that it isn’t suggesting it is passing audio through to the amp at all where as on the films which do work it does show this. Some films with the same audio encoding appear to work so I can’t see any type of encoding which specifically does not work. I have a AC3 5.1 audio track which works fine with the same video so I have to switch to this. I have confirmed that no transcoding is taking place as well.
I tried disabling auto switching for video and this actually started Plex transcoding the audio despite passthrough being enabled!? All very odd. It then got completely confused until I restarted everything.
I may just re-encode the audio and see if that fixes it.
I also do notice that switching between 1080p content and 4k HDR content does mess up the 1080p content so it is displayed with what appears to be a different video mode, possibly altered by the Xbox itself as it is lighter (I notice it as the black bars of a screen are grey on my LG OLED). Odd thing is if I power cycle my amp it seems to fix this, although the amp says that the video coming through it then 4k60 as apposed to 4k24, I presume this is the Xbox upscaling the video whereas when playing 4k content it matches frame rate.
I do prefer playing Plex on the LG WebOS on my B7 OLED but I just got a Denon x3700H amp so now want to take advantage of TrueHD / Atmos / DTS-X audio which my 14 year old Sony amp was not capable of. Without a Nvidia Shield I discovered the Xbox passthrough was the only easy way of doing this after trying both the LG Plex app and the Fire TV 4k Plex app.
Anyone from Plex can help PLEASE ? @BigWheel ?
Example file in OP that shows the issue.
Would any of you mind enabling logging to server in app on xbox then after you get issue get the server logs. (Please do not enable "verbose, just the regular debug logging) that I can add to bug report
I have the logs, is there somewhere private I can send them ?
Please note, as described I provided the actual file in my 1st post for you to troubleshoot with so you can load into onto your own servers and then gather all the logs you need!
You can attach them here. Use the upload icon.
It doesn’t really need to be, does it? They are logs without specific identifiers. Or, if the material viewed is sensitive/personal, just grab something innocuous and reproduce the problem that way.
Shall I send them to you?..
