Dual port fowarding

Hello – I am having trouble with port forwarding. I was able to do this years ago but since I moved my room mate has a second router and I cant for the life of me set it up. The router I can access (10.0.0.1) is a NETGEAR C6300, I can setup and the port forwarding there and it will work for internet things (for example if I setup a small webserver I can connect to it on a local ip, (192.168.0.33:8080) but I want to set up Plex to be able to be reachable anywhere to justify paying for the service. What’s the proper way to setup this port forwarding? I do not even know what the IP is for the other Modem/Router.

Thanks in advance.

Not available outside your network
Your server is signed in to Plex, but is not reachable from outside your network. Learn more
Tip: It looks like your server may be connected to the internet through multiple routers or other network devices. Try connecting it directly to your primary device, or visit our support site for more information about troubleshooting this “Double-NAT” scenario. Learn more
DISABLE REMOTE ACCESS
You currently have Remote Access enabled through a manually-specified port. If you wish to disable Remote Access, you will need to remove your manual port forwarding from your router.

Still need help?

I suggest putting your second router as advanced DMZ on the primary router,
then you only NEED to port forward on the second router.

What port is your Plex server on , 32400?

That is definitely caused by lack of port forwarding on your routers.

If I understand you correctly, you control the primary router/cable modem but your roommate has a second router connected to it and you connect through that router? Here is a very simple solution:

  1. Log into Netgear C6300. Make sure that “use gateway as DHCP server” is checked under ADVANCED > Setup > LAN Setup. Enable wifi and setup the wireless network with the same name and passphrase as you currently use.
  2. Go to the second router and determine if it has anything connected to the ethernet LAN ports
3a. If the answer to the above is no then unplug the router and stash it away
3b. If the answer is yes go to Best Buy (or wherever) and pick up a $15 Ethernet switch. Unplug everything that is plugged into the 2nd router and plug it into the Ethernet switch. Unplug the 2nd router and stash it away
  3. Renew the DHCP lease on your computer (or just restart it.) It should now have a 10.0.0.x IP address.
  4. Now do the port forwarding in the C6300.
