"Remote Access" I can't broadcast my Plex Media Server "HELP!"

got a really annoying situation going on.

i have about 13tb worth of media that broadcasts from my plex machine.
never have had any issues.
recently i had to reboot my wireless router to default settings due to a drop of speed i noticed.
(Netgear Nighthawk X8)
now for the life of me i can’t get my plex server to broadcast. all my external devices show my library as “OFFLINE”

i’ve checked that “port Forwarding” is turned on and other settings that used to be enabled.
however no matter what i do i can’t’ get the remote access to turn green.

i’m getting this message:

“Not available outside your network
Your server is signed in to Plex, but is not reachable from outside your network. Learn more
Tip: It looks like your server may be connected to the internet through multiple routers or other network devices. Try connecting it directly to your primary device, or visit our support site for more information about troubleshooting this “Double-NAT” scenario.”

any suggestions?

A port forwarding rule needs to be configured not just turned on. can you tell us how you have it configured to forward to your computer. take a screenshot of port forward rule would probably be simplest

this is my Cable Modem setting. “No Port Forwarding”

my set up at home is

Xfinity 1+gbps (Cable)
that connects to a Xfinity Gateway (Wifi disabled - just using this as my “Modem” since i’m forced to rent their hardware at this moment until i can buy my own modem."
Netgear X8500 Wireless Router (this is what has EVERYTHING hooked up to it wither wireless or Direct Conenction

Below is the image of the Netgear Nighthawk Port Forwarding enabled
please let me know if there is anything else i can screenshot for further guidance from you.

i’ve never really messed with this before so this is a semi new area for me

You don’t have a port forwarding rule there. ( netgear seems to call a rule a “service”)

you need to make a custom one where

  • name = Plex ( or whatever)
  • External start and end port = 32400
  • internal start end ports = 32400
  • internal IP= the IP of your computer that runs the server

then in your remote access settings in your server, enter 32400 in the “manually specify port” field.

Tried doing that and i ran into the same issue.

two screen shots attached

at this point i’m thinking if it would make sense to do the following:
connect ethernet cable from the “Modem” to a Unmanaged Gigabit Netgear Switch.
then from that switch connect the “Plex Server & NAS” together" ?

Netgear router

Plex Server
(Mod removed image with external IP)

update:

tried using a switch and that didn’t work.
so i’m back to just Modem and router set up

in the netgear does it list the correct external IP on whatever the main info page is?

i’m having the same problem… also have netgear nighthawk
