Duplicate Movies after Changing Agent from Plex Legacy to Plex

Hi Guys,

I have been using the “Plex Legacy” agent for quite a while. I have multiple versions of the same movie and normally you get one movie and multiple versions (files).

When I changed the agent from “Plex Legacy” to “Plex”, all existing movies stayed the same. However, if I add a new version to an existing movie that was originally added by the Plex Legacy Agent it creates a new movie, therefore instead of plex having one movie it has two with the same name.

I have tested this further by adding multiple versions using the new Plex Agent and it works correctly, it’s only a problem then there is an existing Legacy Agent found movie.

This sounds like a bug to me,

Thanks,

It sounds to me like you only changed the agent. This will result in all new additions being scanned/matched with the new agent but it didn’t migrate your existing library content.

There’s a dedicated button in the library context menu to upgrade the entire library (... > Manage Library > Upgrade Matching).

Edit: does the Upgrade Matching action still show in your library context menu?

Thanks Tom, I had to revert back to ‘Plex (Legacy)’ to get the “Upgrade Matching”. However after executing it, it still has the same issue so it only appears to change the agent to the new agent.

looks like I needed to refresh the metadata after changing the agent.

Thanks for the assistance Tom.

I now have the same issue after switching from the Legacy agent to the PLEX agent. Also I do not have an “Upgrade Matching” choice under the “Manage Library” dropdown.

PLEX Version: 1.20.1.3252

Thank you
