Duplicate movies and music after following instructions to move libraries to new drive

Server Version#:4.42.1

Hello,

I started to run out of space on the internal drives of a Windows PC I’m using as my Plex server. I purchased a 2-drive USB RAID enclosure to move my media to instead.

I found the following article and followed the instructions to copy my media libraries to the new drive:

However, I’m finding Plex to be inconsistent in how it’s finding the files.

My DVR library (exclusively for media recorded via the Live TV DVR service via my antenna) reconnected just fine, exactly as expected.

My TV Shows library also behaved as expected – each episode ended up with a blue “2” mark to indicate duplicates, and when I removed the original library location, all metadata and viewing history was preserved.

However, my Music library is a mess. After a full scan, all albums are now duplicated, and all of my custom Genre tags and posters are missing from the duplicate albums. Artist genre tags and metadata seems fine, though. I’m afraid to remove my original library location for fear of losing all of the custom metadata forever. Not sure how to fix this without meticulously re-entering all of that data on the duplicate albums before removing the original library location… can anybody help?

Similar story with my Movies library. Each movie showed up as a second iteration of the movie, with its own metadata match, and without any regard for the collections I’d established for the original movie library. I manually fixed this, since my movie collection isn’t that big (yet).

I have a Cartoon Shorts library (as a movie type library) which also has not properly recognized the new location to the original metadata. This one is a LARGE library of Looney Tunes, etc… and going through it item by item to recreate all of my custom collections isn’t something I would look forward to.

Anybody know how I can fix this, or if there’s something in the article above that doesn’t apply to Music or Movie libraries for some reason?

Thanks for your help!
