Dvb TeleText Subtiles

Does Plex Support DVB TeleText subtitles? Australian Free to Air TV uses DVB-TeleText subtitles and every time I try to turn on the Subtitles in the Windows Plex Client, I get an error saying that “Playback terminated by server”.

I read elsewhere that Plex live tv doesn’t support DVB Teletext subtitles. Can someone please confirm if it doesn’t please. Also, if not, what is the likelihood of a future version of Plex supporting this.

I purchased the lifetime pass to get the live tv and subtitles are important for the hard of hearing.

Thanks

I’m very happy with Plex however, as an Australian user, the lack of DVB TeleText support is frustrating. I’m unsure why Plex cannot enable this support particularly if the content is via direct play (no transcoding)

There are also accessibility issues and laws in Australia that mandate subtitles https://www.communications.gov.au/what-we-do/television/accessible_television

I realise there may be technical challenges but it would be useful for Australian customers to understand why Plex cannot resolve this or if there is a roadmap to resolve the issue

In the interim it’s important Australian purchasers of Plex understand subtitles do not work which is a showstopper for many elderly or users with disabilities

Thanks. I must admit I’m frustrated with the majority of pvrs for windows. They just don’t do Australian dvb teletext.

I really like Plex, but the subtitles is a showstopper for me. The only one I’ve found so far is Windows media center and its no longer supported.

My FTA source for Plex is a HDHomeRun tuner. Even the HDHomeRun TV application won’t display subtitles. However they are available because I can use VLC to watch the feed from HDHomeRun and VLC does show the subtitles. So as far as I can see there’s no reason why Plex could not pick up and display / record the subtitles for Australian users!

Channels DVR supports subtitles in Australia. The format for captions used there is different than what’s used in the rest of the world, so it can be challenging to add support.
